Press & Awards: Jitterbug Press Room
Current Stomping Grounds: San Francisco Bay Area
Interests: Epic Mythology, Dance, Heian-era Japan and pre-1930s science fiction
Currently working on: A huge honking nonfiction book about the underlying mechanisms of story and myth, the contents of which are hinted at in my Star Wars Origins website. Also, though with glacial slowness, a CD of dance music.
Fave Music: Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings, Out of Range by Ani Difranco, Bach's Suite No. 1 in G Major for Solo Cello, "I Don't Want to Set the World On Fire" by the Inkspots, "I Only Have Eyes for You" by the Flamingos, "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, "Ghost World" by Aimee Mann, "Please Forgive Me" and "Babylon" by David Gray (makes me weep), "You Do Something to Me" by Ella Fitzgerald, "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, "While the Earth Sleeps" by Deep Forest with Peter Gabriel, "There She Goes" performed by Sixpence None the Richer, "Blurry" by Puddle of Mudd and "Falling (Memories Of)" by The Cynic Project.
Fave Books: The Glass Bead Game by Hermann Hesse, Dune by Frank Herbert, Gödel, Escher, Bach; An Eternal Golden Braid, by Douglas R. Hofstadter, A Princess of Mars, by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Genji Monogatari, by Murasaki Shikibu (Seidensticker translation), The Descent of Inanna by Enhednanna, The Planiverse; Computer Conact With a Two-Dimensional World, by A.K. Dewdney, The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus. As a kid I was addicted to Tom Swift, Anne Rice and Michael Moorcock's Elric stories.
Fave Movies: Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, Six-String Samurai, The Matrix, Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Heathers, Harold and Maude and, though a wiser soul would deny it, Breakin'.
Fave Television: My TV isn't connected anything but the DVD player, but I download Smallville, Daily Show, Colbert Report and Doctor Who. I adored Starblazers, Crest of the Stars, the first season of Land of the Lost, Tom's Baker's run on Dr. Who, Space: 1999 and especially Neon Genesis Evangelion. And I've still got a soft spot for Space Academy
